Photo Gallery | Two businesses hit by April 27 celebrate their re-openings this week
Two businesses destroyed by the April 27 tornado are making a comeback this week in a brand new building on 5th Street.
East Side Barber Shop held its grand re-opening today at 3 p.m. January 2012 would have marked 50 years in the original building but despite missing that anniversary, owner Bo Waldrep said earlier this month that he became more and more excited about the new store the closer they came to this week.
Waldrep has been at this location in Cullman since 1969 when he was 21 years old. At 64 years old, Waldrep remembers April 27 vividly. There are pictures on his wall, some showing the tornado approaching. Other pictures show the total destruction of his business. Waldrep says he is thankful he has his customers back in the barber chair again.
Governor Robert Bentley continued his week-long tour of tornado ravaged areas with a stop in Cullman to celebrate the grand opening of the barber shop.

The Busy Bee, which is in the same 5th Street block, will reopen Friday, April 27 according to their Facebook page. They've been fielding questions from former customers about what the "new" cafe will be like and judging from the chatter, everyone is thrilled to have the cafe back very soon.
