22 Alabama cities to hold April walking tours

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Tourism Department says 22 towns across the state will participate in the department's April Walking Tours.

The department's Brian Jones says more than 1,700 tours have been done since the program started 10 years ago. The free, hour-long tours of historic districts and courthouse squares will start at 10 a.m. on April 6, 13, 20 and 27.

Participating cities are Athens, Atmore, Birmingham, Butler, Courtland, Cullman, Decatur, Eufaula, Fairhope, Florence, Huntsville, Madison, Mobile, Monroeville, Montevallo, Montgomery, Phenix City, Prattville, Sheffield, Sylacauga, Tuscumbia and Wetumpka.

Good Hope walks for Sandy Hook

A walk sponsored by the Good Hope Community will benefit the Sandy Hook School Support Fund.

The walk begins at Good Hope Primary on Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m. and will finish at Good Hope City Hall. The cost is $15 and includes a t-shirt. You can register or donate at the Good Hope City Hall or at Pepsi Cola in Cullman.

There will also be a balloon release in memory of the victims.

Wallace State vocal jazz ensemble offers singing Christmas Cards

HANCEVILLE, Ala.—Members of the Wallace State Vocal Jazz Ensemble are serving as living Christmas Cards this year.  With each booking, the Vocal Jazz Ensemble will sing a holiday greeting for the office, or to family or friends.

Appearances are $20 and available by appointment Monday, Dec. 3 through Friday, Dec. 14.  Call Wallace State choral director Tiffany Richter at 256.352.8034 to make a reservation or for more information.
